Today, Agents Giving launches a mentoring scheme on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
Agents are not being asked for money, but to give their time – just 30 minutes a week – and sign up to an online mentoring scheme to help service personnel plan a career within the property industry after they leave active service.
Chairman of Agents Giving Peter Knight said: “We are all indebted to those who have pursued a forces career, and if we can help even a handful into employment in the property industry, then it will all be worthwhile.”
At any one time, there are around 30,000 men and women in career transition as they leave the armed services, with around 20% expressing interest in the property industry.
The Royal British Legion is piloting the mentoring scheme across the property and construction sectors, with a view to rolling it out to other employment areas after nine months.
Agents Giving is looking for volunteers within the estate agency industry, at all levels of business, to act as mentors to offer advice and feedback via email, phone, social media and face to face.
One agent that has been participating in the scheme since July is Lenwell Property Services, in Bedfordshire, which has 13 members of staff all volunteering to take part.
