Estate agents beef up activity in new homes and investments

Douglas & Gordon has announced the formal launch of its residential developments department.

Overseen by executive director Ed Mead, the new homes venture is run by former Knight Frank partner and Savills director Neil Batty, while the residential investments side is run by former Grainger director Peter Schwerdt.

Mead says the team is already working on a number of developments and forward sales, and will be working with investors all over the UK.

Meanwhile, another prominent London firm, Marsh & Parsons, has further expanded its residential development and investment arm – set up two years ago – with the appointment of David Duke as director of residential investment.

Duke joins Marsh & Parsons from Strutt & Parker, having previously also worked at Savills. He will be working alongside head of residential development and investment Charles Holland in this newly created role.

National chain Hunters has also announced a foray into the sector, with the creation of a new residential development investment division.

It will trade as Hunters Land & New Homes, focusing on London, Manchester and other regional markets including Liverpool.

Mike McManus heads up the Manchester operation, and Giles Leadbetter runs the London business.
