eXp UK eyes further expansion with UK roadshow

eXp UK is looking to expand its presence across the country with a UK-wide tour starting on 13 June in Edinburgh, with a further five venues, including York, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, culminating in a final roadshow stop, in central London, on 22 June.

The hybrid estate agency, which recently announced that they have now signed up more than 400 estate agents, is hoping that its model will appeal to event more agents from online, hybrid and traditional agency backgrounds.

eXp UK, which aims to empower its self-employed agents with a range of technology tools and services as well as education and training to help them grow their businesses, has organised a list of guest speakers to join them for all six dates, including well-respected estate agency trainer Richard Rawlings.

Rawlings said: “Raising Fees Instantly” is my most popular estate agency training topic and I’m very excited to be sharing the latest fee-raising material during the eXp roadshow.

“It’s generous of eXp to be hosting this event – even for non-eXp agents –  for the greater good of the industry. So, whether or not you’re an eXp agent, do come along it’s free of charge and I promise you’ll walk away charging higher fees than when you walked in. Definitely not to be missed!”

The head of eXp UK, Adam Day, commented: “This year’s roadshow promises to go above and beyond the success of 2022’s event and we’re excited to be visiting a number of new cities to demonstrate the strength and results of the eXp UK proposition.

What’s more, we’ve compiled a line up of outstanding guest speakers, all of whom promise to deliver real insight and value when it comes to what’s required to build your own brand in any business environment.

The first of those is Richard Rawlings and I’m delighted that he has committed to joining us again this year. We’re guilty in the UK of undervaluing what we do and charging low fees because of it.

Since bringing eXp to the UK, it’s become clear that consumers don’t want cheap when it comes to selling their home, they want agents to deliver a service to an exacting standard, and they are happy to pay for it.

It’s why I’m passionate about fee levels and I truly believe that agents in the UK should be, and can justify, charging in excess of 2% commission levels.”

You get paid big money for WHO you are and small money for WHAT you do.

“Adding value” is for the weaker agents.

No slur on the brand, but I do wonder how many of the 400 will still be trading this time next year!

Any EXP agents out there? just interested to know – Do EXP agents need to pay for property portals or is that paid by EXP.  Also does EXP sell postcodes as franchises or can you have multiple agents in 1 postcode?

eXp cover the cost of the portals, which has lowered the barrier to entry for starting your own estate agency, which is why they’re growing so quickly.  They don’t sell postcodes and you can work in any area that you like.  That means that some areas have multiple agents.  We have 4 in Carlisle that are all doing brilliantly.

RR will attend the opening of an envelope if he can get an old photo of himself on the internet and as for charging higher fees, “The head of eXp UK, Adam Day” spent how many years telling everyone that cheap fees are the way forward and is quoted here saying “We’re guilty in the UK of undervaluing what we do and charging low fees because of it” and “It’s why I’m passionate about fee levels and I truly believe that agents in the UK should be, and can justify, charging in excess of 2% commission levels”
You could not make it up….could you ?

They are doing very well and have some excellent local agents up and down.  Low cost of entry and no portal costs are a big winner for those signing up.

You’ve still got to work very hard to build and maintain market share.  There lies the problem.  Spinning lots of plates and the potential for burn out.

I used to be with exp before ill health forced my retirement a couple of years ago.  In those days you were paying a fixed monthly amount which gave you access to an it system from the same guys who did jupix originally and through that the portals.  You have to organise your own insurance and ombudsman etc and pay your own marketing.  As I said you pay a small monthly fee, and exp take 30% of every sale, after a certain level that % drops.  Exp always gets a slagging off in the comments but every person I worked with was an experienced estate agent that was trying something new.  It’s not like the other franchises who have anyone join
