Purplebricks has come top of the new Startups 100 2015.
The index, issued for the sixth time, gauges and rates the potential of new companies launched in the last three years.
Online agent Purplebricks was launched just over a year ago and is a new entry to the list, whose previous alumni include the likes of Naked Wines.
Purplebricks is said to have impressed the judges “having already attracted over £11m in funding, achieved multi-million revenues and scaled to a team of 120 staff and growing”.
Investors in Purplebricks, which has just launched in London and is said to be mulling a stock market launch later this year, include star fund manager Neil Woodford. He and a business partner have invested £7m.
Another proptech firm, Uniplaces, came in at 13th on the list. It is an online marketplace for student accommodation.
Property Partner, recently featured in Eye, which is a crowdfunding platform where buy-to-let investors can chip in small amounts of money to co-own houses, is in 36th place.
Lucy Wayment of Startups.co.uk said: “Disruptive tech start-ups are leading the way when it comes to innovation and growth, but so many of the exciting businesses in this list have used technology as an enabler to provide a unique twist on products and services which have existed for decades.”

There were a fair few Startups I believe, but they actually won the “Best New Startup Property Company who’s trading name includes the word “Purple” It was the toughest category narrowly beating “Purple Timber Clads” and “Purple Rendered”. Well done to them.

Disruptive start up of the year?
I wonder if there is an award for an exciting start up that uses technology to un-disrupt a service industry that doesn’t really need disrupting.
