Mortgage approvals for house purchase rose to a six-month high in March, but were 14% below the levels of a year ago.
The British Bankers Association said that the number of new mortgages approved increased to 38,800 last month, up from February’s total of 37,500.
The figures from the BBA show that house purchase approvals dipped in the second half of last year, to a low in November.
