Independent agency acquired by franchisee for six-figure sum

Whitegates in Huddersfield has expanded after it paid a six-figure sum for the town’s longest established letting agents, Whitworths.

Founded in 1948, the independent agency had remained in family ownership but has now been bought by franchisee Chan Khangura.

The acquisition adds more than 200 properties to Whitegates’ existing portfolio in Huddersfield and Brighouse.

Whitegates has also purchased on Linden Lettings and Easy Lettings Northwest in recent years.

Khangura said: “I am delighted to announce I have now acquired the business of Whitworths Estate Agents strengthening our position as the largest residential estate agency in Huddersfield with over 1,000 fully managed properties.”
