Zoopla demands removal of its logo from SmartProp website

Zoopla has asked purported property portal SmartProp to remove its logo.

SmartProp, which claims to let agents list for £4.95 a month, has been displaying the Zoopla logo on its website.

But a spokesman for Zoopla told EYE that the website did not have permission and has been asked to remove it.

The Zoopla logo was still on the SmartProp website yesterday afternoon.

It is the latest in the mysterious launch of SmartProp, which initially featured Rightmove’s company number on its website but is unconnected to the portal.

SmartProp also featured listings using the names of another agent without permission.

It also shows an address in Harrow as its company location but is registered at Companies House in Walsall.

A spokesman has not responded to queries about these issues.

A supposed contributor from SmartProp responded to our story from earlier this week in the comments section to say that agents had already signed up, adding: “We offer a refreshing product of quality for estate agents who cannot afford to pay hundreds or thousands of pounds per month.”

I sincerely hope that the spokesperson for Zoopla expressed the company’s thanks to EYE for bringing this serious matter to their attention…
