Appearing at a county court hearing in Cardiff, the 71-year-old businessman, who headed-up Darlows estate agents until he sold the company in 2000, was declared bankrupt.
Darlow, of Llanhennock, Newport, told the local press that he is currently appealing the county court decision, which he described as “hideous” in the hope that it will be annulled.
The insolvency practitioner involved in the case is Louise Brittain of Azets. She told the Argus that she is unable to comment on individual cases.
Aside from sales and lettings, Darlows, which is now owned by Spicerhaart, also operates dedicated financial and legal services division together with a national home valuation business, Valunation.
