Well-known estate agency founder dies

Robert Ferris

Robert Ferris, a well-established estate agent in Derry, has passed away at the age of 90.

Ferri, born in 1933, died peacefully at Altnagelvin surrounded by his family on Thursday 19 October. He was a major figure in the civic life of Derry throughout the 20th century.

Having worked across several sectors, including property management, Ferris set-up an estate agency in 1989.

From 1996, he demonstrated a special interest in the development of Institute Football Club at Drumahoe.

For 41 years he was also a Sunday School teacher with St. Peter’s Church of Ireland, Culmore Road, and a member of their select vestry.

He is mourned by his wife Elsa, children Deborah, Geoffrey and Hilary, and his wider family circle.
