Website technical issue leads to complaint to the ASA

The Advertising Standards Authority received a complaint from a member of the public about an ad on the Upad website , which stated:

‘Start with property advertising on Rightmove, Zoopla and Prime Location’.

The complainant, who used Upad to list their property, challenged whether the ad was misleading after their property was only listed on Rightmove.

The ASA contacted Howsy Ltd (t/a Upad), who said that a technical issue had been preventing properties from being listed on Zoopla and Prime Location, but that developers had since fixed the automated system.

Upad also offered users affected by the issue a full refund.

As Upad updated its system to allow properties to be listed on Zoopla and Prime Location, the ASA considered this matter resolved and closed the case informally.
