The Deposit Protection Service (DPS) has released a new series of webinars covering the key changes being introduced under the Renters’ Rights Act.

The free-to-view videos are designed to help letting agents and landlords understand the practical implications of the legislation ahead of its implementation.

Topics covered include changes to tenancy structures, the new rules governing rent increases, the rights of tenants to keep pets, and the strengthened enforcement powers available to local authorities.

The webinar series forms part of the DPS’s guidance for the private rented sector as agents and landlords prepare for one of the biggest overhauls of rental legislation in recent years.

Matt Trevett, MD at The DPS, said: “The Renters’ Rights Act is a significant piece of legislation, and these webinars are aimed at enhancing letting agents’ understanding of the changes it has introduced.

“Although the Act does not affect the protection of rental deposits, the series forms part of our long-standing commitment to supporting and educating landlords and letting agents.”

Susie Crolla, MD of The Guild of Letting & Management, who co-hosts the videos and also provided expert insight on their content, said: “Many letting agents are still getting to grips with the Renters’ Rights Act.

“By working with The DPS we can ensure that as many letting agents and landlords as possible are able to understand what the changes will mean for them.”
