Was any hermit crab hurt in the making of your advert, animal lovers ask Zoopla

Zoopla’s new advertising campaign featuring hermit crabs with model houses strapped to their shells, has caused a stir among animal lovers.

ZPG’s social media team were kept busy yesterday answering comments, including a Tweet from a person who said they would be complaining to Ofcom.

Zoopla assured the complainant that all the hermit crabs involved in the shoot were handled carefully.

The campaign started running  on Monday evening, and is said to be ZPG’s most expensive investment yet.

Jeez, some people just have nothing to live for except to worry about how heavy a crab’s shell is. I wish my life was that pointless.

    “…highly experienced crab handlers…”REALLY????????????

What level of “experience” are they referring to?  At what point in their career does an “experienced” crab handler become “highly experienced”?

Are there enough crab handlers?  Should there be a recruitment drive?

    What’s the pay scale?

Where would interested crab-handling orientated people apply?

Do you need your own crabs or are they supplied?

The list of questions is endless…

Here you go Peebee, the following link is to put your mind and environmental concerns at rest. The section on clutching is especially intriguing…crabs have orgies! http://ari1.com/resources/live-crab-handling/

Thank you, P-Daddy – although I’ve got to ‘fess up to be a bit of a crab aficianado and already knew what was (badly) written there – plus a bit more.

        FOR EXAMPLE…

Did you know that a hermit crab can downsize?

Or – that all hermit crabs are right-handed?

Personally I’m more into enjoying the culinary delights of the species than how it gets to my plate* – but if the pay’s good I might consider a change of direction –  sideways move or not!

*hermit ctrabs are not usually eaten by humans but no doubt make a crunchy alternative snack if you run out of fish-flavoured Twiglets
