The managing director of the newly rebranded Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Kay & Co has revealed that the backing of the Warren Buffett-led firm will help the agent get on the acquisition trail.
Speaking to EYE following the official launch of the business, which sees Kay & Co remain independent but act as franchisee of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, Martin Bikhit said the agency will grow via acquisitions and organic growth.
He said: “As an independent there is only so far you can go.
“This gives us an opportunity to grow our network of offices and coverage of prime and outer prime London.
“It gives us a global platform and access to mentoring in terms of how to run effective brokerages.
“Berkshire Hathaway was always going to come into the market. It was just about choosing the right partner.”
He refused to be drawn on what the long-term plans could be for the business, such as whether it could go public.
The firm also marked its launch by driving round London in a branded taxi.
