Utility switching service ‘on course to save tenants £5m this year’

A utility switching service says it is on course to save tenants £5m in total this year.

Tenant Shop is a utility management software platform focused on the lettings industry, which is operated from letting agencies. It means new tenants can instantly switch to better utilities the moment they sign a rental contract.

The business, which won an ESTAS award this year, says that it aims to save tenants the hassle of shopping around.

It pays agents commission for sales completed on energy, broadband, TV and phone packages as long as it receives initial information from the agent before the move-in date.

Tenant Shop says that the biggest single saving it achieved was for a tenant moving in via haart, who saved £1,224.

The firm’s clients include Hunters, Martin & Co, and Spicerhaart plus a growing number of independents.

It claims the following:

Savings for 2014

Total energy savings = £1,100,000

Average saving per household = £154

 First quarter of 2015

Total Energy Savings = £416,000

Average saving per household  = £205
