Two people were taken to hospital after a car careered out of control through an estate agent’s window.
The driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle as it spun round a roundabout. It mounted a pavement, narrowly missing pedestrians, and crashed into the Fulfords branch, in Okehampton, Devon.
Emergency services were called and two people in the Peugeot people carrier were freed by emergency services.
The fire service also removed the glass and made the area safe.
A driver’s dash cam recorded the moment and can be seen on the Facebook page of equipment supplier Peck Trading, which noted: “The reason we have dash cams is for our own safety, but sometimes we also capture other events! No one seriously hurt amazingly. Note the cool response of our Kevin – not one swear word and straight out to check everyone okay.”
This morning, a spokesperson for Fulfords, part of Countrywide, said: “Emergency services attended the scene and all staff were checked thoroughly; we are pleased to confirm there were no reported injuries. Safety and security precautions were put in place immediately by our colleagues at the branch, with calls diverted to a nearby office to ensure customers were still able to contact us.
“The building has been assessed, with work taking place over the weekend to isolate any damage. We expect the building to reopen today, Monday.”
