The Russell Quirk Story – Part 3

“Well whose fault is that?! Stop ****** moaning about it and do something about it!”

Russell Quirk has a way with words.

In this third and final part of our video series he talks frankly about the demise of emoov, how he dealt with the subsequent public and very personal criticism, and why he had already started a new PR firm.

I appreciate that most contributors to this page will totally disagree, I really do ( and I do not say the following to be controversial, it’s just what I think ) but…

… I found this entire interview utterly absorbing and I for one learned a lot.

    Thanks to all concerned!

it’s ironic when you  were tweeting Seth Godin’s  blog about ‘unacceptable’ Russel Quirk was trolling Juilian O’Dell for having an empty diary.

Julian being the gentleman he is reminded Quirk the reason why in the most dignified way he could. Prior to that Quirk attacked the incoming head of Propertymark with a  nastiness that likened him to a Burnley taxi driver attempting to take Lewis Hamilton’s drive at Mercedes.

Some people have an unfortunate way of conducting themselves and some people find that unacceptable.

So the final episode and today’s lesson is” Don’t worry about failure ” especially when you don’t have to suffer the consequences.Leave that for someone else

Starstruck Jonny “I don’t see Emoov as a failure”

“Do you think you will grow a company to how big Emoov  was ”

Forgetting of course that was an illusion

The £100m  “valuation” flaunted in the summer of July 2018 within months turned into a very real negative value of tens of millions

    Never mind !

“At the end of the day, every child has learned the lesson of spin.Almost every wrong action can be stripped of consequences along with the need for feelings of guilt & remorse ” Bill O Reilly

So today we learn that  prior to the Crowdcube money heist in July 2018  and the lashing together with  the other distressed ship Tepilo thoughts of “the 5th most influential man in property”  were already turning to PR

Fair play he had already  spun a great story to hook the investors

He then goes on to admit that  “as we were getting to the end of Emoov ” the PR company was set up The writing already on the wall  whilst still presenting a different face to the world that there was hope of salvation

Rock on another 2 years  with the latest administrators report which come out in July this year still dealing with the wreckage, casualties and consequences

It makes salutary reading .Like a cross between  Brothers Grimm and Edgar Allen Poe

Whilst   Headphones admits to his Missus in the autumn of 2018  it looks like Emoov can’t be saved  they were still accepting advanced fees from  house sellers monies from uninformed sellers

According to the administrators report In July they were holding £1.5m of  house sellers money. in December 2018

    £14.6m of unsecured creditors

The largest unsecured creditor being Sarah Beeney’s Tepilo  with a whopping £8.7m

It looks  like poor Sarah   never got a “beanie” in the merger

in  the candyfloss illusory  £100m valuation of the merger flaunted to the unsuspecting  investors at Crowdcube

    Reeled in with this strapline
Emoov gives crowd ‘last chance to invest’ ahead of IPO

In less than a month that can was  firmly  kicked down the road  as the monies just required to keep the lights on

Yesterday  a comment was received  from an estate agent whose mission statement  is honesty and integrity that he was”very impressed by Quirk

    Really?

The lesson – If you can fake a sincere openness and also agree a PIE sponsorship, people might forget how many victims suffered inthe process and how many decent people lost their jobs out of one person’s narcisit behaviour

RQ literally says that the was looking to pay himself, from clients and investors monies, while eMoov was in the process of going under. You get it? He was looking to raise money from investors, persuaded poor Stockholm syndrom struck Adam Day to leave his job and join a ship that was not sinking, but already on sea floor, while thinking how he can extract more mnoney from the investors.  Is it legal? could be. Ethical? hell no.
Any person doing business with this man (Benham  Reeves I’m looking at you) is showing their true (lack of) values. And also a fair amount of poor judgement, choosing to do business with the UK’s worse business person of the 21st century.

      Agreed PG

He literally can’t help himself. Enough evidence there for any investor suckered in with the Crowdcube spiel ,any house seller handing over an advanced fee that  this was a company  running on empty  to present a case

The investment in the merger which never materialised

      CROWDCUBE SPIEL

“In contrast to our last campaign, we already have the foundations in place to put our sights on an IPO. However, we wanted to offer one last opportunity for non-institutional investors to support the enlarged company, and to benefit from the anticipated uplift in value that our continued success is likely to deliver.”
The company had generated just £2.2 million in the 12 months to April 2018 after growth completely stalled.yet in the  documents given to investors, Emoov forecasted  revenues of nearly £14 million for the year to April 2019 – a rise of more than 500 per cent.

Over 1,000 investors stumped up £1.8m in July .
Within I month AUGUST after trousering  investors cash he says
“Talk of a listing is premature, he adds”

In September he had his knuckles wrapped for this  misleading statement by the ASA
“Be Vigilant – High street estate agents’ commission is daylight robbery. Use our commission calculator to see how much you could save with Emoov.”

Those poor saps having handed over in Dec 2018  didn’t save a bean

This was Simon Bradbury;s comment yesterday
I’m very impressed that someone can cope with so much pressure and keep fighting!

Most people are impressed with someone who display acts  of  integrity and humility

Anyone seen confirmation in the Administrator’s report for Emoov that a report relating to the conduct of the directors has been prepared and submitted? I’ve seen them confirm it’s their statutory duty to investigate and report on this aspect of the process.

The question nobody asks is did this money actually arrive in May £15m &in addition a multi million sum from  Sky which was  flagged up in the pitch in Crowdcube as RQ later said that someone  didn’t  stand on

If it did and with the additional £1.8m from  Crowdcube in July how come it disappeared so quickly?
If it hadn’t arrived in full he was duty bound to have told Crowdcube investors having pitched with this
This has never been satisfactorily answered .

“The merger with Tepilo and Urban, which completed in May, attracted an additional £6 million from existing shareholders plus £9 million in media for equity across Sky and Channel 5, and a multi-million pound sum from Channel 4 in return for a stake in the combined business.”
