Staff at an agency that has been reprimanded by The Property Ombudsman seem unaware of any sanction.
The Ombudsman recently issued a year-long formal warning to Purfect Property Solutions Ltd after it failed to provide information and written assurance concerning a consumer complaint.
The sales and lettings agent, based in Aylesbury, was investigated by the Ombudsman following a complaint from a landlord after they were unable to resolve the dispute with the agent.
The Ombudsman supported the complaint and the award was paid but the case was referred to the scheme’s Disciplinary & Standards Committee (DSC) which concluded that Purfect should receive a warning to last one year.
A statement said: “The agency failed to provide information as the Ombudsman had directed or any written assurance that the agency would in future co-operate with the Ombudsman and comply in full with the Ombudsman’s decisions.
“The agent’s website suggests the agency is actively trading and advertising properties for sale and to rent.
“Consumers are hereby warned about the firm’s conduct as a result of their failure to comply with the Ombudsman’s instructions outlined above.”
However, EYE phoned the agent on Monday morning to seek comment. The phone was answered by agent Josh Frampton who was unaware of the TPO notice. Managing director Derek Hall is away until next week so was unable to comment.
Frampton said the agent was still active in sales and listings.
It currently has 19 properties on Rightmove, added as recently as June.
The agency has a rating of three out of five stars on allAgents from 17 reviews.
Whilst I have no connection with the company or agent in question, I do think it’s mightily harsh of the author of the article to dig out the agent Josh Frampton personally, especially without any information with regards his position within the company. If he were a partner/ manger then fair enough he should have been aware, however by the same token he may have been a trainee or a negotiator with little or no knowledge of the matter, especially if the MD is away -he may not have informed staff of the situation before leaving.
As the article includes no additional information with regards what the complaint was about, when the warning was issued (”recently” is far too woolly, was it a last week, last month, 6 months ago??) or what position Josh Frampton is within the company, this lacks all credibility. Shoffman would have been far better off waiting a few days for when the MD was contactable before churning out this tripe.
