The best agents in the country? And the winners are . . .

Three branches emerged as the overall winners in the ‘best agent’, with awards also being made to the industry’s best suppliers, as voted for by agents.

There were 87 branches that achieved a ‘double exceptional’ rating in both sales and lettings, with the three ‘Best in Guide’ branches being:

Sales:   Orchards Estates, Stoke-sub-Hamdon branch, Somerset

Lettings:   John D Wood, Southfields branch, London

Sales & Lettings:   Preston Baker, Oakwood branch, Leeds, Yorkshire

The spreadsheet attached below shows the complete ‘top 100’ list.

The best overall supplier to the industry was Relocation Agent Network (RAN), an organisation that may have changed its name a few times but which has consistently had an extraordinary level of loyalty and affection from its member agents.

The full list of top suppliers is:

Silver – Ravensworth

Bronze – Reapit

Best Medium Supplier

35th in the “double exceptional” category. I’ll take that. Well done to all winners.

REVIEW OF THE NIGHT – The speakers were fantastic. I mean really incredible. Gabby Logan was amazing and so was everything else, apart from the actual awards themselves!  We fell within the top 5% of Estate Agents and we’re rated exceptional. Whilst I initially thought that was an achievement, I soon discovered some of the awful competition that I receive complaints about constantly also fell within the top 5%. In fact, one Agent I know, with only 1 available lettings property, and a very very small market share for Sales managed to sit within the top 100!!!  I suppose, if you only have one available property on the market, you have all the time in the world to chat away with a mystery shop right?  I don’t like how this awards ceremony did not take many other factors into account!  THEY SHOULD HAVE SPOKEN TO OUR CLIENTS. THEY SHOULD HAVE CONSIDERED THE TYPE OF MARKETING WE DO OUTSIDE OF RIGHTMOVE.  If an Agent only has 5 properties available on Rightmove and 4 have sold, its going to look like a wonderful conversion rate on Rightmove, but they only had 5 available properties in the first place, which means nobody wants to use them.  The awards do not take into account all other forms of marketing and customer service based things we do for clients.   Yes. It’s about customer service for prospective sellers or buyers that call our offices, but it’s mainly about selling a clients home, achieving a record price and helping both buyer and seller through to exchange of contracts as smoothly as possible.   To conclude – GREAT SPEAKERS, AWFUL AWARDS and I know many Estate Agents within the top 5% felt the same way on the night.   It’s now going to be all about upselling the products to all the mediocre Estate Agents that somehow managed to do well.  I will only ever attend this again for th speakers and leave before the awards are handed out.

Why doesn’t Rightmove offer a feedback tool ? Ultimately, we customers get charged through agent fee for their service. There are many small agents with a fantastic service but with 4K registered in London alone, how do you find them ?

What a joke! Preston Baker come out on top and Peter Knight is business partners with Messers Preston & Baker, an obvious and clear conflict of interest which he didn’t even have the professional courtesy to disclose to the audience on Friday apart from in his unashamed promotion of the Boomerang business?! Very smelly.

Lets hope Rightmove see sense and distance themselves from these nonsense awards….

For the record,  I am advocating as a director of a company from which most of our branches did make the guide or win any award on Friday. Naturally, I am disappointed at the results from  those offices that failed to make the grade and delighted for the minority of our branches that did.

However, I say THANK YOU to Peter Knight and his team at the Property Academy (as well as Rightmove who provided much of the data) for their efforts in this Herculean task which provides an invaluable insight into how our industry does or does not deliver service and ultimately results for our customers.

We at Thomas Morris Sales & Lettings will learn from this exercise and I have no doubt that we will improve as a result – in fact we must!

To all of the winners (some of which include our direct competitors) I say congratulations on a job well done.

Having seen who are listed as the best agents these awards are a joke. They clearly don’t reflect the market or the sales activity of the agents. This job is about selling houses quickly and for the best price possible not just how nice one person happens to be on the phone one particular day of the week. Much more statistical analysis is needed to get a better more rounded view in my opinion before they have any real value. 5/10.

I suggest next year’s awards are based on agents’ Google reviews.

The awards should should have simply been called mystery shop results.

Very poor way of judging our business.

So, as “thisstinks12” has highlighted – Peter Knight/Preston Baker?

Is Peter Knight going to comment openly about his apparently registered Directorship with the Award Winning Preston Baker.

Mr Knight has been quick to enlighten us with his views on our business so let’s here a clear statement about this apparent “conflict of interest”.

We are all waiting Mr Knight, enlighten us please.

Anyone remember this story from a couple of weeks back about the agent that disappeared stealing all their tenant’s deposits? – http://www.propertyindustryeye.com/concern-grows-as-agency-closes-down-with-no-sign-of-director/

They are in the top 5%…kinda says it all really
