As an agent, where do you stand on the longer tenancies that both Labour and the Greens would like to introduce – and which are set to become the norm in Scotland and Wales?
Longer tenancies make many tenants and landlords nervous, with worries about claiming the property back, mounting rent arrears and the condition of the home – not to mention the fact that tenants don’t seem to want longer leases.
However, here is an interesting blog from a Londoner who has rented both in this country and, currently, in Denmark.
There, longer tenancies are the norm. Every property is freshly painted for incoming tenants, and outgoing tenants are obligated to do the same.
Why, asks the tenant, does Britain stubbornly cling to the vision of renting as only a short-term thing before purchase?

“good for landlords, who can lock their tenants in”, firstly under what labor wishes to do the tenant will not be locked in unlike Denmark.
Then if you I do give a tenant a 3 year tenancy, we all know they are lickly to just leave when they wish regardless of what the paperwork says.
