Successful open house event for 700 properties, says Strutt & Parker

Strutt & Parker have reported a successful open day last weekend, with 700 properties involved which attracted over 1,200 viewings, resulting in over £80m worth of offers. Some properties had 20 viewings.

The value of the offers made was £20m up on the firm’s open house event in February, while the number of offers accepted was also up.

The firm said that there was a correlation between homes whose prices have been changed with those properties that received the highest viewing levels.

Simon Backhouse, of Strutt & Parker’s Canterbury office, said: “Pricing has been an important issue this summer and we were particularly careful to make sure our houses were on at realistic guide prices before the event.

“If a property is priced too high, it runs the risk of being discounted from a buyer’s viewing list, even if it ticks every other box.

“The concept of our Open House Day and the key to its success is to encourage buyers to look at houses they might not have previously considered. We know from this and previous events that they do go on to buy.”
