Spat! Pryor launches broadside on allAgents in bid to get his private address and phone number taken down

An extraordinary altercation has broken out on social media about review sites.

Property finding agent Henry Pryor has let rip at allAgents, with a string of tweets saying he does not believe the reviews it carries of some agents.

allAgents has hit back – and raterAgent has joined in.

Pryor told EYE last night that what angers him is that his name, phone number and full address – his home address – are listed on allAgents.

He claims this is without his permission; and that allAgents has not responded to requests to take it down.

Pryor’s entry on allAgents has no reviews but claims he comes 10,877th out of 15,217 firms in the UK.

On Twitter yesterday evening, he threw down the gauntlet to allAgents, saying: “So where did you get my name, address and phone number from for your database. Only @TPOmb makes it publicly available.”

He told allAgents: “My beef is that I can’t opt out.”

Prior also said that he was not sure he believed negative reviews about firms including William H Brown, Puterills, Allen & Harris and Thornley Groves, all of which he cited as good firms.

allAgents meanwhile countered with accusations that Pryor had tried, and failed, to set up his own rating site.

allAgents told Pryor, who is also an industry pundit frequently appearing on television with his market analysis and predictions: “And then there was your other ‘agent’ review website that didn’t work out. You’re not very good with your predictions when it comes to review websites.”

Pryor said that while his effort drew publicity, he couldn’t get the industry and in particular the trade bodies to support it.

He said: “It didn’t work for the same reason yours doesn’t but once I realized, I had the sense to move on. You should too.”

Ratings site raterAgent – about which little has been heard lately –  briefly joined in the fray, telling allAgents: “People in glass houses, that’s all that needs to be said. We’ve very much alive and have some BIG plans.”

In another part of the combat, Pryor questioned a reviews site that did not carry reviews of Purplebricks – Purplebricks and allAgents are currently in a legal tussle with the former querying the authenticity of a number of reviews on allAgents. allAgents has currently removed all of Purplebricks’ reviews.

allAgents is currently trying to fund-raise £50,000 to pay for legal fees to challenge allAgents, which uses Trustpilot.

By last night allAgents had raised £12,933 from 64 supporters, with 28 days to go.

I’m so pleased to be reading this this morning.  I’ve always known all Agents to be a joke! It’s not ethical, it’s all money driven and anyone can leave a review.  For example, we had an argument with an Estate Agent involved in a chain with us, put the phone down and five minutes later, a ridiculous negative review appeared, with a name we’ve never heard of.  I also hate the fact that you had to opt in to their transparent agent scheme, where that should be something as standard.

    RATERAGENT is AMAZING!

    What’s the problem Henry?

I thought you despised people hiding?

Why do you not want your address published? What have you got to hide?

Oh come on. World of difference, they’re showing his home address

Is it where he conducts his business from?

Surely the public need to know where to at least start looking for him in case they need to find him.

Surely it’s just being transparent 😉

I don’t know what’s more laughable – the spat itself or Henry defending the “reputation” of some of those Agents. Handbags ladies!

Why on earth would a high profile person like Henry Pryor want to come off a review website ? Is he scared of negative feedback???

I wasn’t aware that he had his own review website either. Was that rateragent?

AllAgents pretending to be moral arbiters given their own behaviour is laughable.

    I wish you well Henry

    GDPRs will solve the problem.

Beat me to it Eric. That said, a significant number of businesses I’m speaking to don’t seem to have a clue what GDPR is, yet alone what it means in practice and what they need to do to prepare for these new regulations.

It is entirely reasonable that if Henry Pryor does not operate from a home address it should be corrected to show his office address. However he says his beef is that he cannot opt out. Sorry Mr H, that is the nature of review sites and the world we now live in.

Erm… I seem to remember it was all on your website, Mr Pryor.

Not your new website – your old one, http://www.hclp.co.uk – which you ran your Buying Agent/Bacon Selling business from.

“My beef is that I can’t opt out.”

BEEF?  Is that another string to your bow now?

That being the case – here’s a strapline for your business – free of charge courtesy of your favourite bacteria:

Brisket, bacon and an eight bedroomed mansionette – all under one woof.

No one can pull a fly one when PeeBee is around! You might hear him buzzing, but he can see everything 😉

It might be just a white lie, but it has put a major dent in Henry’s reputation. I hear the BBC are removing his title ‘The BBC’s favourite property expert’. In fact come to mention it, who in the BBC gave him this title??

Could Mr Pryor be misleading the public and consumers ?

Could this be the next ASA wrapping?

Tune in to what PeeBee can find out …..

Just checked some of the cached pages of the hclp.co.uk website.  Sure enough, you can find his landline, mobile number and address listed within the pages.

I also note that Mr Pryor has decided to block me on Tw@tter – no doubt as a result of the above post.

Speaks volumes in my opinion. Of course, I could do the same in return – but where would he get “his” best ideas from if I did that?

Not to mention, of course, how ridiculously childish the act of something like that would appear to others…

Why is Henry citing those firms in regard to calling our negative reviews ? Anyone know any links ?

Say what you like about Allagents, its ugly. its clunky, but it’s the site that pops up the most when doing a natural search on Google for estate agent reviews.

I’m with Henry on this one. He does however have consumer clients whereas my business is entirely B2B.

Integra is listed on Allagents as an agent (Services I do not provide) and a number of requests to remove me from their list have fallen on deaf ears.
