The shortlist for this year’s Best Estate Agent Guide is published today.
A statement from the organisers said: “Now in its second year, it seeks to raise industry standards by identifying and rewarding those agents that deliver extraordinary results for their customers.
“The top performing branches are accredited with an exceptional rating (top 5%), an excellent rating (top 10%) or a highly rated classification and listed on bestestateagentguide.co.uk. Sales and Lettings are assessed and accredited separately.
“New for 2018/19, at the EA Masters event on October 12, the top performing brands will also be recognised and the very best in each region and size band will win awards at the event.
“Agents will compete for awards in regional categories against businesses of a similar size. A shortlist of single branch, small and medium sized estate agency businesses, who are in contention for a regional award at the EA Masters, has been published today at http://www.eamasters.co.uk/the-guide/
“The shortlist for agents competing for awards in the Large and National agent category (defined as those with more than 20 branches, or operating across multiple regions), will be announced in a few weeks time.
“Agents not on the shortlist for a brand award at the EA Masters could still have some or all of their branches listed within the Best Estate Agent Guide. The Best Estate Agent Guide 2019, featuring the full list of branches and award-winning brands, will be published on October 12 immediately following the EA Masters event.”
What a complete old boys club waste of space, but lets get the penguin suit out and spend some money patting each other on the back

On their website it says that the guide has been: Compiled by independent industry experts the Property Academy with the support of the UK’s largest property portal, Rightmove.
So, does that mean that if you’re not emptying your pockets to Rightmove you’re not included?

What makes me wonder is how accurate is it all.
The winners from last year aren’t even on the shortlist for sales this year.
I follow them on Facebook and they seem very on the ball so I doubt they have become terrible in less than 12 months.

Why is Jackson on Lavender Hill in this guide? http://www.propertyindustryeye.com/agent-bought-out-of-administration-by-firm-which-promises-tenants-deposits-will-be-safe/
What a waste of time, clearly they have not done their homework.

Despite appearing in it (so no sour grapes) there are some really good agents not mentioned in it and some truly average ones listed as exceptional. I think our mystery shop was a daft email asking about the possibility of having a valuation on a Saturday with no contact details or address, and last year something about drone photography again with no details. Tosh really.
