Brown & Merry, which is part of the Sequence UK network, has acquired independent estate agent Adrian Cole & Partners for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition marks the turning of a full circle: Adrian Cole’s original family firm was W.H. Brown, founded in the 1800s by an ancestor, William Brown.
W.H. Brown & Co eventually merged to become Brown & Merry in January 1964.
It means that Cole himself first worked for Brown & Merry 50 years ago, and now does so again in a consultancy capacity.
He founded Adrian Cole & Partners, formerly Cole Flatt & Partners, which has been trading in Berkhamsted and Chesham, in Buckinghamshire, since the 1990s.
Sequence said that it plans to grow by other acquisitions of well-established and reputable local agents.
Area director Jonathan Weedon said: “Adrian Cole & Partners is a terrific acquisition for the company.”
All staff of Adrian Cole & Partners will transfer to Brown & Merry.
