New data from Connells shows that the group’s estate agency business has performed exceptionally well, with the number of sales agreed in June up 27.5% versus last June.

David Plumtree, group CEO of estate agency, said: “We are delighted with the very strong performance across our network.

“With the election uncertainty removed and confidence returning among sellers and buyers, our branches are currently enjoying particularly buoyant market conditions.”

He added that Connells – which does not list with OnTheMarket and has shares in Zoopla – has seen an increase in leads from portals.

He said: “There is no question that our additional presence across Rightmove, Zoopla and our own websites is helping drive increased leads, and as a result we have seen a boost to instructions and sales.

“Indeed, so far this year we have seen a 44% increase in market appraisal leads coming from the various portals. This has contributed significantly to some excellent sales results.”
