Roadshows for Scottish letting agents being hosted by ARLA and TPO

The Property Ombudsman and ARLA are to host three roadshows in Scotland, aimed at helping letting agents comply with new mandatory requirements.

These are a Letting Agent Code of Practice and the need to join a Register of Letting Agents.

TPO and ARLA will co-host free events in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh on December 5, 6 and 7, to help letting agents understand the impact of these changes, which come into force in January.

Each of the roadshows will commence with a networking lunch, followed by a series of talks and interactive sessions on a variety of topics.

These will include a briefing from the Scottish Government on the new legislation and registration arrangements; an update from Property Ombudsman Katrine Sporle on dispute resolution; and a presentation from ARLA about handling complaints.

There will also be an interactive case studies session led by deputy Ombudsman Jane Erskine, where real-life examples of consumer complaints will be presented to delegates who will then have an opportunity to decide how they would have handled the complaint.

Each of the events will commence at 12 noon with a networking lunch and finish at 3.30pm in the following locations:

  • Aberdeen: Tuesday 5th December: Park Inn by Radisson, 1 Justice Mill Lane, Aberdeen
  • Glasgow: Wednesday 6th December: Jurys Inn Glasgow, 80 Jamaica Street, Glasgow
  • Edinburgh: Thursday 7th December 2017: Edinburgh Marriott Hotel, 111 Glasgow Road, Edinburgh
