Rightmove’s valuation tool goes live

The new Rightmove valuation tool is now available.

The Move or Improve app can be searched for in the App Store, or downloaded here

Rightmove says the launch is very much a trial, and is in response to home-movers’ curiosity which leads them increasingly to research property values online.

Rather than generate an exact figure like other tools, which Rightmove pointedly does not name but says “can be misleading”, the new app offers a 15% range estimate of a property’s value – 7.5% up or down from a mid-point.

The app specifically prompts consumers to contact local agents for a more accurate valuation, should they be thinking of selling.

Rightmove says that it neither wants to replace nor undermine agents, but hopes the new app may help them win instructions.

The free app will be a standalone product, and during the trial, not integrated on to the main Rightmove site.

The results of the trial will also be assessed before any further decisions are made.

When agents are sent an enquiry from the app, they get the details of the valuation range that the consumer has been given.

When Eye carried the story of the impending launch, there was a vigorous but decidedly mixed response.

A Rightmove spokesperson told us yesterday: “We’re keen to get feedback through the ‘Send App Feedback’ button within the app.”

Just be honest, “a spokesman for Rightmove said where keen to sell instruction alerts that are slightly different to their instruction alerts so will probably cost more “

Danny, why so negative, I’ve had a play around with it and it looks good and about a million times better than Z’s ‘your house is worth this exact amount.
