Rightmove has responded to an article on EYE yesterday questioning why private sellers are permitted to list on Rightmove Overseas.
All sellers and landlords who want their properties in the UK to appear on Rightmove have to use a sales or lettings agent. But those selling or letting property abroad can advertise directly on the site.
A Rightmove spokesperson told EYE: “Private sellers have been able to list on Rightmove Overseas since 2008, giving sellers overseas the opportunity to reach the UK’s largest home-buying audience even if they are in a part of the world where the process of selling a home is different, or they do not have access to an agent on Rightmove.”
Despite the fact that private sellers have been permitted to sell homes overseas directly on the portal for the past 15 years, individual sellers still make up a tiny proportion of those listing homes for sale on the property website.
“Individual sellers make up less than 0.1% of overseas listings, meaning nearly all use the experience and expertise of an agent,” the spokesperson added.

It’s about time RM and other portals started showing their (high paying) clients some loyalty.
Its similar with allowing landlords to advertise via the ‘Openrent’ umbrella.
