Rightmove launches latest round of free seminars for agents

Rightmove’s free breakfast seminar programme for agents, now in its fourth year, has started up again.

The new seminars have as their theme the fast-changing habits of the 21st century consumer.

The first seminar was in Winchester last week, with dates in Coventry and Northampton this week.

The two-hour sessions look at consumers’ technological behaviour, and share extensive new research into what motivates sellers and landlords to choose or recommend one agent over another.

Miles Shipside, Rightmove’s commercial director and co-presenter of the seminars, said: “Feedback from the new seminar format has been great, and whilst all Rightmove members in the area are invited, funnily enough agents like it even more if their main competitors are not there picking up the top tips.

“Those who attended last week said they would attend future seminars and wished they had brought more of their team, so it appears the content is highly valued.

“We normally limit attendance to around 100 people at each seminar but this week’s Coventry seminar has proved so popular we’ve allowed 117 people to sign up.

“Agents say the consumer research findings are a valuable reminder of how to reach and impress their target audience.

“When a survey of 50,000 home movers have a strong opinion you have to listen to it and shape your business accordingly. The best blend appears to be ensuring you have a strong internet strategy but also great people.

“Sellers and landlords say they want local knowledge and staff expertise, though unsurprisingly how you market their property and the exposure it receives are highest on their agendas.”

Any Rightmove customers interested in attending a seminar should speak to their account manager for information on locations and dates.

Both of the free seminars that I have attended shows you the next great thing that Rightmove is launching.
You get a free period and then they start charging for it, like the 'free mobile premium listings'. We were going to drop these when the 'free' period run out but was told that we couldn't, we had to pay for them as part of a package with our standard premium listings or get neither, so our costs went up.
The saying is 'there is no such thing as a free lunch' (in this case breakfast).

I think RM are getting very close to the definition of Racketeering the way they operate today.

Interesting method for Rightmove to see which agents need them the most… so they can sell that 'new' premium product to them. Clever.
