Right to Buy to be abolished in Wales

Right to Buy is to be abolished in Wales.

Making the announcement, Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones told the Welsh Assembly that the abolition “will ensure social housing is available to those who need it and who are unable to access accommodation or the private rented sector”.

In England, Right to Buy is by law being extended to the tenants in the social rented sector amid talk of it being extended to the private rented sector.

Hard to believe that a politician has shown a spark of common sense – well done. What was Social Housing / Council Housing designed for in the first place ?  This lead should be picked up in England ASAP and decent people be allowed access to decent housing.  If they abuse the privilege then remove the privilege and offer it to the many who need it.
