Reminder: new TPO codes of practice launch today

A quick but important reminder: the new TPO codes of practice for both sales and lettings come into force today.

According to ombudsman Christopher Hamer: “They incorporate the many changes in legislation that have occurred over recent years, emphasising the importance of adhering to the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations and the new 14-day cancellation period.

“They represent a comprehensive set of standards by which agents should run their businesses, leading to reduced risk for the consumer, fewer complaints, and consistency across the sector.”

So its sign all clients up in the office now to bypass the 14 days signup in the clients home then 🙂

Even as we speak I can see all TPOS members thumbing through the code and changing their practices to match the code (NOT) – codes are a nice fluffy idea but does anyone actually follow them let alone read them? TPOS certainly don't check compliance

Coo-eee… Mr Hamer… are you reading this??

Your "Guidance for Consumers (Sellers)" is out of date.

Just thought you'd want to know…

Erm… so is the "Guidance for Consumers (Buyers)".

      Oh, dear.

Think you might want to check the Code of Practice – just to be on the safe side…

I have just registered with Property Industry Eye.
I would just like to say if you have nothing to add to the discussions in a positive way, Keep out of the debates,
    Looking forward to Agents Mutual.
I will be shouting from the rooftops when it goes live.
Lets see what the big 2 do?

Okay – I am POSITIVE that TPOs "Guidance for Consumers (Buyers AND Sellers) require updating.

Is THAT more along the lines of your posting requirements, PK?

Erm… 'PK' – for the avoidance of doubt, could you please define "positive" additions to discussions?

In respect of AM – I take it as read you expect me to climb up there on the rooftop with you – but what about OTHER subjects…?

I am up early to catch up on what is news in the industry and have to say PK yours is the most bizarre and puzzling post I have read (other than Simon Shinerock turning up); Peebee is on topic and making a salient point and then somehow the thread has something to do with agents mutual? odd!

        Takes all sorts, Mr May!

I'd be more concerned about people leaping from the rooftops if it doesn't take off!
