Purplebricks critic Chris Wood to ‘blow the lid’ on company at investor event

Long-standing Purplebricks critic Chris Wood is to speak at the UK Investor Show this Saturday at the invitation of share tipster and ex-fund manager Tom Winnifrith.

Describing himself as the “estate agent who takes on Purplebricks”, Wood is due to be the final speaker at the event, held at the QEII.

Winnifrith said that Wood will “blow the lid” on Purplebricks and will deliver “sensational new material”.

He added that “if Purplebricks sends us a lawyer’s letter we will not back down”.

Wood tweeted: “Looking forward to meeting Purplebricks UK  lawyers face to face as I’m guessing they’ll be showing up.”

Wood told EYE: “I’m going to be tailoring what I have already written in my blogs plus a few new items and thoughts to the specific audience I’m speaking to.”

Purplebricks declined to comment.

I wonder what can be said at the conference that hasn’t before? Is anyone really that bothered?  So much money has been spent getting PB to where it is that most (if not all who know the business) cannot see where the value is. The share value is hugely out of kilter with earnings yet alone potential. I suspect that those invested are ‘hoping’ that it can maintain a value to enable an escape without the loss of certain items of clothing.

Self described  ‘estate agent who takes on purplebricks’.

With 7 houses on the market for his firm, I doubt purplebricks are too concerned  Maybe he should spend more time worrying about his own firm, rather than mixing with failed fund manager and  pizza shop man tom winnifrith?

If anyone is interested, here is some information on the various investigations of Mr Winnifrith and his collapsed fund and missing money.

Dom, Chris may only have a handful of properties available, but good agents will work on quality rather than quantity as it is all about providing the best service. He is probably still making more profit out of his one office than the whole mighty Purple Bricks put together!!

Until your last sentence it seemed you were as usual having  go for the sake of it, as you have clearly shown your unwavering bias for PB and your rudeness . As soon as you posted that last sentence … it is clear you are, as has been said before are not just Joe Bloggs off the street, you work for PB. You only comment on PB threads and the script and information you disclose is something that only someone who has a serious and material interest in PB is ever likely to comment on.

You have to be correct. It would be nice if the little **** told us who he or she really is.

I think any business who could be exposed for what they really are, should be very worried. It is irrelevant who says what, it is the facts that matters. We shall have to wait and see what Mr Woods says before making judgement and attempting to ridicule, is very childish.

Well TW has often been accused of feathering his own nest and he is not alone in that department . He is the self-appointed elected Sheriff  of AIM

However he does have  a track  record in sniffing out some bad “uns” – Quindell and ,Worthington for example

Good luck to you Chris, investors clearly don’t understand the complexities of Estate Agency and somebody needs to knock some sense into them!

”Complexities of estate egency?” You do understand your vendors or future clients are unlikely to see this? Leave your sales pitch for the front room…

Didn’t make it onto the list of speakers. Probably just a short guest spot for light entertainment.

Here’s one of Chris’ best jokes from twitter:

“Hilarious but have missed off choosing a DIY agent where you pay £1k up front but only have a 14% chance of selling” (15 January 2017)[CW1]”

and his explanation to PurpleBricks’ lawyers:

“This, again, is factually correct statement based on a report by an internationally renowned investment companies analyst.

Furthermore, independent data collected since that date, shows that PB do not complete on 88% of all transactions as publicly stated by Mr Bruce on BBCs’ MoneyBox programme but, more likely, less than 25%.”

If you’re reading Chris, tell them the one about PurpleBricks not paying a dividend yet, that will have them rolling in the aisles 🙂

Chris should be introduced with his own words “Having checked the evidence and drawn on my experience, I tend to believe I am right until I am proved I am wrong or the evidence changes.”

Or put another way “I might be wrong but I’ll say it anyway”

I have to say we are taking PB head on too. Not like our hero Mr Wood but we are offering £699 upfront. So far only a small handful of takers BUT and it is a big one PB are not taking on much at all in my area and nothing from other onliners at all.

The point is, they are on our books and not going elsewhere. We are no longer feeding PB by insisting on a higher no sale no fee as the only option.

Furthermore three of the enquires I had for the 699 option decided they were better off with the full service.

So the message here is do offer the alternative, don’t feed PB or any of the rest and never forget the client will choose you if you can put yourself in front of them but they definitely wont if you don’t give them the choice.

You guys crack me up. You all moan about PB but rightmove have taken you all to the cleaners…..PB will win over and take a chunk of the market unless you come up with something…and so far most of you have added digital online which has increased your costs.

Guys you need to come up with a way of decreasing your costs as the high street are fast becoming full of charity shops due to rising costs.

leave PB alone and concentrate on YOUR future

I am not an estate agent, but I used to be a graphic designer (still am in a way) and I have to say that I would never ever use a company with a ****** ugly logo like Purple Bricks to sell my house. It just looks so downmarket and, dare I say it, common. In fact, there’s another agent with a hideous logo called Prospect – their signs are like this PRO SPE CT – each on a different line. But obviously lots of people aren’t bothered! Maybe we could have a competition for the agent with the most downmarket logo?
