ARLA Propertymark and NAEA Propertymark has confirmed its presidential teams for the year ahead.
Liana Loporto-Brown has been appointed as president of NAEA Propertymark, while Michael Holden, managing director at Michael Holden Chartered Surveyors, will assume the position of NAEA Propertymark vice president.
Maxine Fothergill is appointed ARLA Propertymark’s new president and Angharad Trueman, managing director at CGT Lettings, has taken on the role of new vice-president of ARLA Propertymark.
NAEA Propertymark president, Loporto-Brown, has been in the industry for almost 25 years after starting her career at 19-years-old with Dhalia Group in Malta where she worked for ten years. She then moved to London, where she joined Foxtons before moving to London Residential where she stayed for 13 years.
In the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, Loporto-Brown started up her own agency, Liana Loporto Property – powered by eXp.
She said: “I’ve waited what seems to be an eternity given the Covid-19 pandemic taking hold. I’m passionate about mental health in the industry and can’t wait to support anything that we can do to help, by raising money and awareness.
“As president I will use my voice within the Propertymark platform, to champion professionalism in our industry, to our members, to agents that are not yet members and to our customers across the UK.
“I genuinely believe that Propertymark is unrivalled when it comes to training, and with the introduction of the Regulation of Property Agents (RoPA) on the horizon, I really want to see us supporting existing members through Propertymark qualifications as a well as attracting new members who want to be qualified and regulated agents.”
Fothergill , ARLA Propertymark president, started her career in the industry in 1988 for Robinson and Jackson in their flag ship Bexley Branch and then started her own business known as Amax Estates and Property Services in Gravesend in early 2002.
She said: “In my presidential year, my main aim is to raise the profile of ARLA Propertymark and focus on the importance of succession planning. It is my intention to reach out to as many younger people as possible via all forms of media.
“I want to encourage greater numbers to join the industry and see it as a valuable and worthwhile career through sharing my experience of how fantastic, exciting, and ultimately rewarding the industry is.
“My plans are a perfect fit, they will compliment Propertymark’s strategy and form an integral part of a progressive and forward-thinking organisation.”
Reflecting on the new appointments, Nathan Emerson, CEO Propertymark, said: “All of the Propertymark Board, alongside the staff at Propertymark HQ are really looking forward to working with both Maxine and Liana in order to drive Propertymark further forward and deliver more to our members.
“Congratulations to not only Liana and Maxine, but to David, Stephen, Michael and Angharad on their newly appointed positions within the team.”

At least it means the person at the helm actually knows estate agency (unlike practically every Ombudsman at TPOS).

“Not sure what to think of this.”
Well, Countrybumpkin – allow me to offer a suggested answer to that.
* IF the lady fights a good fight and doesn’t just talk a good one…
* IF the lady stands up to the scrutiny that the position – and moreso her chosen model in the industry – will obviously bring upon her…
* IF there is no ‘dirt’ that the watchful eyes of those who will seek to drag up about her…
* IF she ‘makes a positive difference…
…then I would suggest you – we ALL, in fact – think of it as a bl00dy good move by NAEA/Propertymark at a time when they have been cursed by a good deal of self-harm brought on by bad press and membership dissatisfaction.
IF any of the above cause issues – then I would suggest you and many others will raise eyebrows and think it was yet another disaster waiting to happen.
I, for one, sincerely hope the former will prove to be the case. As should the industry in general.
