Property Ombudsman looking into 24 possible complaints about one property company

The Property Ombudsman has confirmed that it is looking into 24 possible complaints about a property company.

Ombudsman Katrine Sporle said: Whilst we cannot discuss individual ongoing cases, we can confirm that TPO has accepted and is dealing with 11 complaints and 13 initial enquiries against GPS (UK) Ltd.

“This company is a not a member of TPO. However, because we have a service level agreement with their trade association, the Association of International Property Professionals (AIPP), we are able to take the consumer complaints.

“This means that TPO can review the complaints, make appropriate awards, and refer the matter to AIPP to instigate their disciplinary procedures if an award is not paid. We had a case like this last month and AIPP were instrumental in gaining payment of the award.

“We are providing as comprehensive a service to consumers as possible where property agency is concerned and would like to reassure consumers that, where we see trends of this nature against specific agents, we do everything possible to fast-track cases in the public interest.”

There has been discussion on landlords forum Property Tribes about the company.
