Property firm offering ‘guaranteed rental income’ told to amend its claim

A property firm has agreed to amend a claim offering “guaranteed rental income”.

Howarth Homes made the claim in a newspaper advertisement, but an un-named complainant challenged this to the Advertising Standards Authority.

The case was informally resolved, but could have implications for those making similar offers.

A spokesperson for the ASA said: “The complainant was concerned that this was misleading.

“The advertiser agreed to amend the claim, but clarified that they had been prepared to make up the shortfall between actual rent and the guarantee.”
