Two property firms are on the “non-compliant” list of the Advertising Standards Authority – although one of them appears not to be in business.
The ASA says that West Property Consultants, trading as Hugo West, and Knightsbridge Property Services have not amended their adverts since complaints against them were upheld.
Hugo West – which we reported here on EYE, claimed to be a member of various industry organisations including NALS, TPO and SAFEagent.
Its use of a logo implied that it won The Sunday Times and Times estate agency of the year competition in 2014.
Today the ASA still lists Hugo West as non-compliant, saying it will remain on the list until the claims are removed or amended.
It added Hugo West to the list on August 4. However, a visit to the website shows that on that date, the Hugo West domain name expired.
The other “non-compliant” property named on the ASA’s list is Knightsbridge Property Services, Bradford.
It has been on the list since May, after the ASA criticised it for not making clear what it means by “starting” or “guide” prices at auction.
The ASA said that in some cases, reserve prices on properties could be higher than the guides.
Knightsbridge Property Services said yesterday that its next auction is in October.
