Estate agency unveils ‘sustainable’ branch refurb

Portico has launched a new ‘sustainable’ office in Fulham with an event attended by local clients, media, local businesses and agency staff.

The company, which is part of the Leaders Roman Group (LRG), used the gathering to showcase the branch’s new fit-out, fully powered by renewable green energy.

Low-flow taps save up to 50% of water consumption, and low-VOC paints release less gas than traditional paints. All fixtures and fittings were chosen to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and all wood was sourced from locally produced FSC-certified wood.

In addition, office chairs are made from 100% recycled fabric in a closed-loop content production process, with 25% of the raw material derived from LRG’s recycled waste streams. The carpet in the new branch is made from 65% post-industrial recycled content and the supplier will repurpose and recycle the finished item when it reaches the end of life.

Ceiling tiles are manufactured in the UK using bio-soluble mineral wool, perlite, clay and starch, and are, 100% recyclable and rated A+. Solar film lines the high-street-facing windows to reflect heat out of the branch with the aim of lowering the need for electricity.

Every element of the re-fit has been produced locally to Fulham or in the UK to reduce transport emissions and to support local businesses, Portico said.

David Wilson, group COO of LRG, said: “It was brilliant to welcome so many people to the event. LRG is committed to creating a sense of community across our nationwide high-street branches. Partnering with local businesses through our Portico places initiative ensures all of our homeowners and tenants are welcomed into their new community and feel at home”.

Another LRG estate agent office, Leaders in Aylesbury, is undertaking a sustainable upgrade and opening later this month.
