Phishing attack reported to Agents’ Mutual by one of its own members

Agents were yesterday allowed access back into the MyAm part of the back office after Agents’ Mutual was hit by a phishing attempt.

The system had been closed off on Wednesday afternoon and was not available until late yesterday morning.

CEO Ian Springett revealed that it was one of the member agents who had spotted the attack and reported it promptly.

He said there had been a detailed investigation into the phishing attack.

A small number of member agents had gone to the fake website. This has now been shut down.

No MyAM accounts had been accessed.

However, Springett said that “all website users can be attacked in this way and, regrettably, phishing is now an attendant risk of using the internet to access accounts of all type”.

Springett stressed that OnTheMarket itself and the MyAM systems were completely unaffected by the attack.

However, he did ask for vigilance by member agents, including checking for the correct URL.
