OnTheMarket makes ‘strong entry’ into Northern Ireland market

OnTheMarket has announced making a ‘strong entry’ into the Northern Ireland market, and is now carrying thousands of listings.

It says it will be competing head-on with PropertyPal.com, PropertyNews.com and Zoopla.

Helen Whiteley, OTM’s commercial director, said: “Having made tremendous progress in England, Scotland and Wales over the last year, we are proud to present OTM in Northern Ireland as a much-needed competitor in the online property search market.

“We have worked closely with the agents in Northern Ireland to prepare for this latest launch and look forward to growing our presence still further over the coming months and years.”

OTM announced in January that it had overall support above 6,500 agents, including those already contracted and others who have signed Letters of Intent to join OTM when total support reaches 7,500 offices.

At £50 per office its worth a punt – and makes it much easier to enter places like Northern Ireland. But it is very risky business when they have disgruntled members who are getting next to nothing and paying £500 per month!

Oh you’ve been offered £50 an office have you?

Don’t tell me, you’ve got a mate who has a mate that’s been offered it eh?!

Probability is that Lamby45 has no mates.

If the copious writing on the wall actually spells out what we all suspect it does, his/her employer doesn’t encourage the concept of mates – on the basis that it makes life awkward when it comes to reviewing subscriptions.

£50 to join OTM!? Ha, you’ve been had, I’ve been offered free of charge for 6 months!

I can’t respect a company that will undermine original backers who are paying £500 a month, it’s reckless and it stinks.

Yep good call david, I bet ya RM and Z have all agents on a even and fair pricing policy.

and I bet every agent who has a dig at OTM on here has vendors on different fee deals.

I can hear you david and the likes of danny, turning the next possible instruction down if they were asked to include VAT or chuck a free EPC in or something.

or doing the fee deal and then calling all their higher paying clients to reduce their fees respectively as they cannot live with their moral high standards if they don’t.

Laughable….. if you don’t like OTM move on and stop beating yourself up over such a bad business idea.

Wow !! to be invited to comment. I feel special !! My personal opinion is that for far too long Northern Irish agents have been help over a barrel by Rightmove ,who have very little marketshare, Zoopla ,similar and two other property portals you wont have heard of before today . It needs someone exceptional to spend their clients money in a foreign market as has been demonstrated by Ian and his team with the launch of the their overseas offering. They are exceptional at doing stuff that makes very little sense to those us us selling three bed semis. I wish them all the luck breaking the dominance of whoever it is that is dominant out of those two above  …or zoopla …or Rightmove

We are at a standstill, international got us shot down, where the sodding hell are we going to get these 1000 agents from to get us to 7,500 members so the letters of intent kick in?

    Northern Ireland

    Bravo!

Why don’t OTM try France or Belgium for more agents? That would be a quick uptake to their desired 7500 specially at 50 Euros a branch and then it would get by more people and don’t forget the French and the Belgium’s can all read English much more betterer than us Brits. Innit !

Much as I admire your out of the box thinking, not dissimilar to the NI eureka moment they recently had I may add, but hardly anyone in the UK have heard of them, I really don’t fancy their chances with France and Belgium 😛

Dear god, we still even bothering with this OTM storyboard – another example of total twisting of life/facts/reality. Exactly when happens when no corporate governance or internal controls. As I have been told many times, I havent put any mney in so why do I care. Well I do, as I really want it to work, the concept is great.

So now we have our own Irish problem, to add to london HQ’s, lavish salries, no independent directors, no small agent directors, country life advertising, powering of countrylife website, one other portal rule dropped for overseas properties, an overseas section and it goes on and on and on.

You total mugs, muppets and fools. And PIE, when the day or reckoning comes, you will also be called up to the altar to plead your case – your investigative journalism makes lorraine look hard hitting.

To the tune of londons burning…

If you are an NI agent you will be much luckier than our counterparts in GB who are ripped off by the big sites and where there was a need for OTM. Here in Ni the listing fees have always been pretty reasonable so we didn’t need OTM. Depsite this I see that two of the biggest (and most expensive) agents have signed up to OTM. There really was no need, they are basically creating a new completely unnecessary portal themselves – disadvantage to the client as they will end up paying more in the long run. If the sensible NI agents ignore OTM then maybe it will go away……
