NEWSFLASH: Florence appeal hits its target with the help of our readers

Here is some good news to put a smile on your face as we start the weekend – the appeal for two-year-old Florence Jackson has reached, and indeed sailed over, its target.

Florence, the daughter of estate agent Rod Jackson, a negotiator at Proctors in West Wickham, Kent, and his wife Carolyn, is desperately ill with Neuroblastama and is currently undergoing her 21st round of chemotherapy.

After British doctors told her parents that there is little more they can do,  her best chance is to go to New York, where a specialist surgeon has had excellent results. To meet costs of taking her there and the operation itself, the Jacksons launched an ambitious appeal to raise £250,000.

Exactly a week ago, EYE announced #FlorenceDay

Yesterday afternoon, the £250,000 was reached and exceeded, with donations having come in thick and fast from both agents and industry suppliers. This morning, the total stood at £261,209, donated by 8,587 supporters.

Her mum has since posted: “Wow wow amazing cannot believe it I am crying with joy, we are one step nearer to getting this tumour out, thank you so so much, Caz xx”

Thank you so much to everyone who has not only donated but spread the word. We can also see that some estate agents have given to this most heart-tugging of causes a second time. Our readers’ generosity, and the way you have got behind this appeal, is truly inspirational.

We will keep you updated as to the next steps.

And thank you so much for giving hope to one enchanting little girl and her family.

Read this about an hour ago and thought, great job, well done. Then I thought, over £150k in about a week, ****** great job!! Everyone who has helped, in whatever way, should feel very proud. Now, I am not the praying type, but I will pass on to Florence and her family the best and most positive mental thoughts I can.
