Newly agreed rents edge up in most regions

Newly agreed rents rose slightly last month, referencing firm HomeLet has reported.

It says that average new monthly rents in the UK excluding London are now £729, and in London £1,464.

According to HomeLet, new rents went up by 2.4% in London and 3% in the south-east.

However, in East Anglia, newly agreed rents rose by just 1%, and in the south-west dropped by 0.9%.

The biggest monthly fall was in the north-west, where there was a drop of 3.5%

Elsewhere, rents went up by 1.9% in the west midlands and by 1% in the east midlands.
