A new virtual reality property game is to launch – with an unusual marketing opportunity for estate agents to bid to be a part of it.
A twist on Monopoly, Property Magnate uses real properties, under licence, from the Zoopla database.
Gamers search for and buy properties through 26 estate agents; they can also buy properties not on the market through the game’s acquisition agent.
Players can sell on properties either through one of the agents or through the game’s ‘market maker’ who buys it immediately, enabling the gamer to get on and make another purchase.
All purchases are subject to realistic prices and Stamp Duty, and sales are also subject to estate agent fees.
Gamers are entered on to a leader board so they can test and judge their ability against their peers, and are notified if their position changes.
Each gamer can see other gamers’ portfolios and add that gamer’s properties to their own wish list in the event the property is placed on the market.
The game is free to start playing – gamers receive £250,000 worth of ‘credits’ to build their portfolios. They can either grow their portfolios organically, or buy additional credits.
Some intriguing new features are set to be added, revealing how the game will monetise itself.
For example, genuine estate agents will be able to bid for naming rights – meaning they will be badged in the game, and players will be able to visit the actual websites of those agencies.
Auctioneers and developers can also bid for licences to be badged in the game.
David Harding, director of Property Magnate, said: “My inspiration developed after observing my son, James, becoming involved in football virtual reality league and trading games.
“Being passionate about property, I thought that it would be an excellent format to enable people to understand, and become involved in, the property market.”
The game is not played on an old-fashioned Monopoly-style board, but (of course) via an app, due to be launched imminently on iOS and Android via the Google Play and Apple Store.
If the website link is not yet live, we’re told it soon will be – and the game should be available in the stores within the next week or two.
I’m thinking: Alright – link is broken.

No, link is working as it should. But I don’t think this game will be very interesting… Maybe for studying purposes only..
