A trade body has been established to support businesses and individuals with an interest in the UK protech industry.
UK Proptech Association aims to promote engagement between technology businesses and the property industry whilst representing the interests of both at home and abroad.
Initial events announced by the UKPA include a ‘trade mission’ to New York in June and the inaugural UK proptech awards, slated for December.
Eddie Holmes, chairman of the UKPA, said: “The growth of proptech in the UK has been astounding. Today’s climate of ever-increasing investment in PropTech businesses is mirrored by a boom in adoption of new technology by property professionals and consumers alike.
“It’s more important today than ever before to make sure that the companies and people driving innovation in PropTech have a body which can help them succeed.
“It’s one of the key goals of the UKPA to bring technology businesses and property businesses closer together. For too long each group has viewed each other with some trepidation. We will work to build bridges between, and create opportunities for, both industries.”
Inaugural members of the new trade body’s steering group are Dan Hughes, Edwin Bartlett, James Dearsley, and Juliette Morgan, of Cushman & Wakefield,
Dearsley said:“I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to help the property industry work with technology companies during my time working in both sectors. I hope to bring this insight to the UKPA steering committee and look forward to seeing proptech continue to flourish in the UK.”
Why have they got to go to New York? What we need is some angel investment for great ideas in this country. Then we can sell our proptech to the USA agents

An ego trip…in every sense! And an award ceremony that delegates can no doubt sign up to at great expense. Look at what happened to Estate Agents awards yesterday…not easy to pull off and normally a folly!
