New property search platform aims to ‘unlock increased instructions and revenue for agents’

Homesearch has today unveiled a new property search engine that it believes will increase the volume of instructions and revenue agents can generate by helping would-be sellers, landlords and buyers find their next home, regardless of whether those properties are on the market or not.

Every estate agent using the tool will be able to offer its own clients a fully white-labelled, property search engine that provide an alternative to Rightmove and Zoopla.

The new product follows over three years of development work by Homesearch within off-market property search and will be fully white-labelled to allow agents to drive leads, instructions and revenue from what the company sees as a relatively untapped area of client service.

Homesearch says hat its new search tool will reduce both consumers’ dependence on portals and put the agent at the heart of the client conversation at the start of the process.

Giles Ellwood, Homesearch CEO said: “Every seller and landlord start as a buyer. By focusing on that early part of their journey, agents will start relationships, win instructions and ward off competition earlier.”

Fully automated, the agent receives an enquiry from the search agent based on their clients’ requirements, as well as their home address and the list of properties that best suit their needs. This provides the agents with the necessary data to prospect these specific addresses and convert the lead into both a new and onward instruction.

Ellwood continued: “We’re extremely excited to be the first to develop and launch a whole-market property search engine that will truly revolutionise the industry.

“Every estate agent in the country is confronted by potential buyers and sellers who hold off coming to market because they are frustrated by the small fraction of properties available on portals. Sellers won’t sell because they believe they won’t be able to buy, whilst many buyers have given up all hope of ever finding their dream home in the current climate.

Giles Ellwood

“This is the biggest challenge currently facing the housing market and we’ve developed a proptech solution that not only addresses the problem but transforms the way a property is prospected, bought and sold, with agents right at the heart of it.

“Modern estate agency is all about adding value to your clients and distancing yourself from the competition by solving the real problems faced by all your clients, earlier in your process.

“Being able to offer your buyers and sellers the entire market, rather than just the 1% of it on Rightmove or Zoopla, is why we see this new product launch as truly disruptive. All with the core aim of unlocking increased instructions and revenue for agents – the very reason Homesearch exists.”

I can see the theory is good but I am sceptical about how many buyers would be selling on a local patch. For example we probably sell about 60-70% of our stock to buyers more than 20 miles away. So how is a valuation lead going to work? Are we going to write to 2400 potential sellers? Or even 240? That’s £200 just in postage.
