New home move service looks for expansion via agents right across UK

A new company offering a ‘move’ service to estate agents’ customers has raised £400,000 to expand nationwide next year.

Homeshift says it has already recruited 200 agents after launching in London in August.

It helps buyers, sellers and tenants make their move by giving them a platform that co-ordinates emails from their agent, solicitor and mortgage broker in one place.

Homeshift also changes addresses with all service providers, sets up utilities, and provides ongoing home-related services.

As well as being free to consumers, it offers the possibility of commission to agents.

Agents can co-brand with Homeshift and offer it to their customers; in return, they can earn lifetime revenues from services bought by customers.

Agents can also promote their own preferred partners, including solicitors and mortgage brokers.

Kenny Alegbe, CEO of Homeshft, said: “We’re offering a new lifetime revenue opportunity for estate and letting agents and we’re genuinely helping consumers to have a better moving experience.

“We’re proud to be working with 200-plus estate agents already, and with our new funding, plan to grow that number tenfold next year.”

He said that per branch, an agent handling six sales or 20 lettings per month could make about £3,000 in the first year, climbing to £10,000 per branch in year three onwards.

Among agents using the service is Woodland Estates in east London, whose managing director Vic Chott said: “Homeshift provides us with an online platform where we can easily recommend our preferred solicitors, and vastly improves the communication we have with our clients.

“It’s such an important part of our brand now that we would recommend it to anyone.”

Homeshift’s new funding has come from venture capital funds and business angels, including Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn and former Primelocation marketing director Sheraz Daz.

This service is clearly for agents who offer no service to their customers. Proper high street agents take care of everything associated with moving home for their clients themselves
