New briefing paper for MPs on regulation of letting agents

A briefing paper to MPs on the regulation of letting agents has been published.

While it says nothing new, it is a comprehensive round-up of arguments both for and against regulation, and covers a possible ban on letting agent fees.

Since Parliament has now disbanded, it is unlikely that the House of Commons paper will be read by MPs until after the election.

However, for those agents who want to be up to speed with what MPs are being told, the link is here

read the reports and the report refered to in the report on the Scottish fee ban.   Shelter  –   dodgy analasis and survey.   Inconclusive was the answer.  The main agreement appears to be belonging to a regulatory body and client money protection.  Which im sure most reputable agents would agree is a good thing.    Publishing up front fees to tenants is also good.   To ban all fees to tenants  – unnecessary and will simply increase the cost to the landlord who will charge it back down to tenants in rent.
