Mystery as ex-Zoopla big hitter Jon Notley announces he is CEO – but of what?

Former Zoopla big-hitter Jon Notley has announced on LinkedIn that he has become chief executive officer – but of what, he has not revealed.

The former chief commercial officer of Zoopla left in March.

A well-known and highly respected figure in the industry, known to many agents, his departure caused considerable surprise.

Notley had been in the property portal industry from the very early days, since 2005 when he joined FindaProperty as sales director.

On LinkedIn, he now describes himself as chief executive officer, adding “Watch this space”.

Intriguingly, former commercial operations director at Rightmove, Costas Frangeskou, uses very similar language on his LinkedIn profile.

Frangeskou, who left Rightmove in January, describes himself as ‘sales director’, again giving no company name, saying: “Working to bring a fantastic new product to market – watch this space.”

The venture which the pair are believed to be involved in is understood to involve a financial product for home buyers.

Also on the move is another well-known person in the industry, Jamie Lester, who announced his seemingly abrupt departure from the agency he founded in London, Haus Properties, last November.

Lester, who appeared in the 2010 Apprentice series on BBC, has now been appointed group marketing director at Aitch Group.

Aitch Group is a London-based developer with six build to rent schemes in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, Chris Maclean has left Foxtons to join Barnes Private Office, which last month announced ambitious plans to expand across London and the UK. Formerly known as Hanover Private Office, it has sold a majority stake to the international luxury property brand Barnes.

Maclean was a sales negotiator for Foxtons in the Dulwich area, and becomes associate director at Barnes Private Office.

Finally, we were amused to get a LinkedIn invitation to congratulate Kevin Hollinrake on his new position yesterday – the day that Parliament broke up before the General Election.

Hollinrake’s new position turned out to be the Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for Thirsk and Malton!

Jon typically vanishes, to reappear and create strategic clever impact.

Will be interesting to see what the magic box reveals this time.

    Good luck Jon
