Movebubble app to help letting agents identify ‘serious renters’

An app that claims to speed up finding a London home for tenants has launched a new feature for negotiators to assess potential renters for landlords and distinguish between time wasters and serious viewings.

Movebubble already offers an app for renters to search available homes, rents and fees from lettings agents, as well as another for negotiators to book viewings.

The idea is that renters can book viewings within two clicks, although they would still need to be checked and approved by the agent and landlord.

Now the app, founded by Aidan Rushby, a former branch manager for lettings agents Ocean, is offering to help speed up tenant checks by allowing renters and negotiators to communicate within the software.

It’s not clear how this is different to just speaking on the phone or email, but according to the firm’s excited statement, the idea is that an in-app chat feature will help “agents build rapport with time-strapped renters by providing a direct communication channel that fits around their schedules, as well as share feedback with landlords quicker”.

This obviously assumes agents are checking their app notifications in a timely manner or are in the app at the same time as a potential tenant to chat with them.

Renters can now also choose to input their card details to become a ‘priority renter’, meaning that any viewing requests will automatically go to the top of the queue for agents.

Rushby said: “We know how difficult it can be for renters to manage property-hunting around work, which can lead to no shows and ultimately losing out on a property.

“With card verification and the chat function, agents will be able to identify those who are serious about moving so they never miss out on a potential deal.”

A Movebubble spokesman said the firm works with agent brands such as Countrywide, JLL and Ludlow Thomas.

Movebubble raised millions a few years ago from a few ‘idiot’ investors. Their concept, was to avoid agents and let landlords and tenants socialise with one another, this didn’t work. They then changed their model to an app for Tenants only, and that didn’t work, and are now changing their model again aiming at the agents. Not sure this will work either. Might be time to do something else Movebubble.

One day there will be more property apps than property professionals.

Movebubble looked really good, on the face of it, a few years ago but I haven’t heard of them since. There’s just no room left in this space.
