Zoopla has this week hit the milestone of 8.5m combined (iOS and Android) app downloads for its Zoopla and PrimeLocation mobile apps.
Zoopla also announced that during October mobile traffic made up 72% of its total traffic.
The popularity of ZPG apps is also confirmed in the current rankings from Apple’s App Store, Zoopla said.
Zoopla and PrimeLocation both rank in the top 100 most popular apps, with the Zoopla app being the most popular property search app in the UK currently ranking second in the Lifestyle section of the Apple App Store with a 4-star user rating.
Rightmove ranks fifth with a 2.5-star user rating, PrimeLocation ranks 88th with a 4.5-star user rating.
OnTheMarket has a 2.5 star rating and according to Sensor Tower, was ranked at 47 in the UK in the lifestyle category.
With over 72% of all visits now via mobile, ZPG members continue to benefit from the strong brand awareness and continuous shift to mobile as consumers increasingly use ZPG’s apps and mobile platform to search for property at work, home and on the move.
Mark Goddard, managing director of ZPG Property Services, said: “Mobile continues to explode and consumers naturally turn to their mobile devices first for property related search and research on the go.
“We are delighted with the significant number of app downloads we have reached, along with our consumer ratings, and pleased we are able to offer our partners and their clients’ properties the widest possible exposure across all mobile devices.”
The continually expanding use of mobiles , and their position as the No.1 way of using Google and Bing search, has big implications for all businesses, including ours.
Mobile is so dominant that Google has recently announced that the content of your mobile site, not your PC/laptop/tablet version, will soon be used to determine your ranking for SEO. This change could mean that many businesses , especially the corporates, currently occupying top SEO positions and benefitting from leads as a result could find themselves replaced by the smart g uy on the street.
Most mobile sites are simply an auto shuffled version of the PC version and this is a major fault. Try using your own site on mobile and check how easy it is to read text and navigate.
Zoopla, whatever else you think of them, are adopting exactly the right strategy to the exploding use of mobile. As always with internet adaptive technology, being fuelled by the 50+ age group who are initially slow on the uptake. Their 4 star user rating compared to Rightmove’s 2.5 and their higher download of apps is also significant as is OTM being a few furlongs behind.
Correct use of mobile is another opportunity for the savvy agent to steal a march on the competition.
