Boomin has secured the support of yet another 10 agencies, all of which have chosen to be founder members.
In what is the fourth signing announcement in less than a month, Boomin, a soon-to-launch property portal, has confirmed that the latest agents backing the website are Millerson, Clyde Property, Curchods and Burns Webber, Bourne, Location Location, Boydens, Roderick Thomas, Mark David, easyProperty, and Open House.
Aside from qualify for ‘founder member’ status, offering free use of the platform until January 2022, Boomin, which is due to launch over the next few weeks, says that any new agents who sign-up now will also benefit from new and recurring revenues, thanks to new tools offered by the new platform.
Michael Bruce, executive chairman and founder of Boomin, hopes that new features, such as Sneak Peak, Matchmaker and 24/7, will bring more people into the market.
He also hopes that features like ‘Property PlayGround’ will help Boomin make good on their aim of giving agents “the opportunity to earn more ancillary income through the portal than they pay over in fees”.
Bruce commented: “All agents have a choice to make as we build to launch before the end of 2020. They can choose to stick for the long term with the status quo or they can be at the forefront of their industry and embrace innovation and positive change by signing up to the Boomin portal, with no obligation and free to use throughout 2021.”
He added: “With the support of agents, Boomin can be the game changer that is long overdue and much needed to drive healthy competition, a superior agent and customer experience, as well as fair fees for all.”
I’ve given it the benefit of doubt for a few weeks now in the hope it will grow on me. But still, in my opinion – Boomin is a terrible name.

It is not possible to buy editorial on EYE and it is never made part of a marketing campaign package.
We always have and always will maintain the editorial independence of the publication.
There have been rare instances when an advertiser has attempted to influence the editorial coverage and the result is always the same.
They are invited to take their advertising spend elsewhere.

Appreciate the comment Nick.
But as of late, there has been a lean towards just publishing press releases which show services such as Boomin in a glowing light.
Would it not be more credible for once in a while an inpartical story about whatever the ‘Next Big Thing’ is ?

In the times of multiple and never-ending lock downs, that threaten the livelihood of many in the industry, the last thing we need is another website to display properties on or another bun fight.

The best agents, I mean the really good ones, are already doing most of what Boomin is offering to do. Sneak peeks, 24/7 access, matchmaking, constant contact etc. AND are retaining full control of THEIR data. So there is nothing new here, but, it does explain just who is signing up to this.

Curchods were an original backer of OTM although now advertise across all 3 of the major portals and are now backing yet another one. Begs the question, how many portals do we need and at what cost until we establish the pool of buyers in any given location is just the pool of buyers no matter how many places you advertise?

Is it me – or is there a whiff of desperation creeping into the Boomin’ Press Releases?
It seems like the Corporates are sticking with RM and are keen to keep the Independent EAs paying for their lunch.
Boomin’ are courting the Regionals and offering them a “free lunch” in the hope of toppling RM.
SNTR has shown that EA don’t hate RM enough to jump ship.
As surrey1 says “how many portals do we need and at what cost”
How many EA advertised in more than one local newspaper?

They are just holding out for a larger share allocation.
The likes of you and I get what we are given.
CW, LSL ETC Will be trying for a higher share allocation.
I have no doubt certainly by the end of 2021 they will all be on it.

Boomin’ will be banking on that being the case.
The end result is entirely predictable – in 2 years Boomin’ floats with founder shareholders cashing in, or RM buy them out before they become too big.

Ah the free for now carrot!
We don’t need them, they need us and going by their previous track record of ability to form a successful business, meggar £M’s lost in investors money and dislike towards high street agnets ……….
You will end up with the death of a thousands cuts if they turn on you.
Bruce has shown no mercy to high street agents before what makes you think “he has turned over a new leaf”? How can you TRUST someone who went out of their way to destroy you, are you nuts!
NO, No, No.
We have sufficient advertising portals and the consumer isn’t asking for another one.

Thats the problem, you join get some residual income from some of the bolt on’s and then WAM your subscription kick in and continue to increase each year to a point you are tied with residuals and if you leave you will lose the residual income. Been there done it.

Agents are fed up with Rightmove pulling their pants down yet don’t have the courage to leave, then a few groups start up SNTRM, Boycott RM etc. they start promoting Onedome, then Homesearch, Openbrix and now Boomin, jumping around like headless chickens, I wonder what will happen next month when super mario brings out another portal that offers free entry and a stranglehold on your finances and your data.

The issue is…..agents! We left Rightmove in April this year, only to have our entire register canvassed aggressively by the same agents that we had spoken to about coming together to make a stand. This includes an independent who had given notice at the same time we did, but didn’t see it through. The industry just cant be trusted to come together and Rightmove know it. SNTRM stoked the fires but didn’t seem to have the conviction by leaving themselves….not a criticism as we were very grateful to have them as a voice in Lock Down 1. In my view Boomin [hideous name] have no chance of breaking RM dominance in the short or medium term.
