Merseyside agent bids to go national as it launches into franchising

Merseyside agent Good Moves is to expand via franchising and says it aims to have a national network.

It is currently advertising for negotiators, branch managers and valuers to join them, with an initial offering of 15 franchise territories.

The firm has appointed David Bradshaw, previously of Bradshaw Henderson and who has 30 years’ experience of estate agency, as its brand director.

He said: “We’re focusing on creating a brand with longevity which people will recognise and we are not only offering franchise territories, but also expanding through acquisition.

“Whilst we are focusing our launch here in the north-west, we’re keen to talk to potential franchisees throughout England and Wales.

“Soon clients will get used to seeing our distinctive branding on the high street wherever they are.”

Ahh Franchising, the classic be your own own boss… But pay me 10% of your earnings … Basically a bite size taxman

Sounds good to me, I know many franchisees who have done extremely well, and have flourished.A franchise may not be for every person, however it does provide those who feel they would like extra support the chance to gain valuable advice and hands on help ,from people like David Bradshaw who are obviously highly skilled and experienced in their field.

Funnily enough, the ones i know who own property franchises all seem to be driving extremely nice cars too and doing very well.

Hmmmm…… This agent currently has 36 properties on its website. Why would anyone purchase a franchise from them as they are unknown. Am I missing something?

A 10% of turnover franchise fee may sound reasonable but when you find it can be as much as 35% of profit it hurts!
